The high speed, cross platform, backup and recovery
facility that lets you bring distributed data under central
control.
The reality of multi-vendor environments has greatly
increased the complexity and cost of protecting distributed
data. Platform specific backup, restore and disaster
recovery procedures require significant investment in
hardware and staff. File transfer mechanisms not created for
this specific purpose require customization and must be
continually maintained. Client-server environments often
have no centralized control procedures at all.
BACKHOME has been created to address the problems of
integrating diverse computer architectures such as DEC/VAX,
TANDEM, AS/400 and PC/SERVERS into a centralized backup,
restore and disaster recovery environment. It allows
operations staff to use their primary archiving procedures
to protect data on other platforms. BACKHOME has been
designed to allow implementation of backup and restore
processes in the way best suited to your particular needs. A
user-friendly API (application programming interface) allows
BACKHOME to be called directly through any application or
integrated into any of the popular job scheduling subsystems
in the industry. Process flow can be controlled
automatically using the BACKHOME feature which
conditionally triggers additional operations depending on
the outcome of the current process.
BACKHOME is compatible with host based security systems and
requires mo modification to the operating system to install.
BACKHOME makes optimal use of your available
communications facilities. Complex multithreading programming,
window counting protocols and single process multiplexing
work together to achieve the maximum throughput of your
available bandwidth. Finally, BACKHOME can be integrated
with other ETI-NET products to support spool to spool print
distribution (ANYPRINT!) and complete file transfer (BCOM
FS6.2)
Our products include software to handle Network
Backup/Restore, File Transfer, and Transaction Switching, as
well as a specialized interface to ADSM / TSM servers for
users of Tandem fault tolerant systems.
BENEFITS
Simplifies operations by incorporating non-IBM platforms
into centralized backup/restore, offsite storage and
disaster recovery procedures. Improves utilization of
centralized operations staff by reducing requirements for
platform specific staffing. Improves utilization of existing
channel software. Free disk space by archiving infrequently
used files. Extends utilization of high performance tape
environments. Easy to install and operate.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
With BACKHOME, no additional system software need be
installed. BACKHOME implements the SNA LU 6.2 APPC protocol
and supports SNAXLINK, QLLC (X.25) and the standard backup
and recovery utilities available with each supported
platform.
INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE
Installation and training support are available.
Maintenance support and product updates are offered as part
of a standard license agreement with each product
installation.
FEATURES
Integrates non-IBM platforms into centralized backup
operations. Operates in conjunction with popular tape
library management systems. Operates at channel speed. Allows
single backup or restore over multiple lines Allows backup
or restore to be defined at the volume or file level
Supports many options for file definition including
wildcards, dates and exclusion lists. Stores data in
original format to allow it to be read directly for disaster
recovery purposes. Configurable with host-based security
systems. Implemented with minimal operational impact.
