This course on IBM Tivoli Disaster Recovery Manager, a feature of IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Enterprise Edition, can help you to prepare a disaster recovery plan, manage off-site volumes, and restore systems using Tivoli Disaster Recovery Manager. In this course you will learn and practice skills needed to implement and administer IBM Tivoli Disaster Recovery Manager by creating a customized disaster recovery plan to help you recover an IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server and client. You will use the plan to back up the necessary server files, a database, and a storage pool onto removable media for offsite storage vaulting. Using IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server-to-server communications, the plan will also be used to back up to remote virtual volumes for offsite electronic vaulting.

With the suggested student exercises, you will be given the opportunity to test your customized Disaster Recovery Plan by restoring the server files, database, storage pool, and client. You will also learn and practice the skills needed to manage the offsite disaster recovery media and to define client recovery information. After taking this course you will have developed skills to set up IBM Tivoli Disaster Recovery Manager for automatic generation of a customized disaster recovery plan, off-site and electronic vaulting of disaster recovery media, and inventory of machine information required to recover IBM Tivoli Storage Manager clients.

• Perform initial setup requirements to use Tivoli Disaster Recovery Manager.
• Create and use customized disaster recovery plan files.
• Configure IBM Tivoli Storage Manager to use removable media for offsite storage of critical files used during disaster recovery.
• Perform routine disaster recovery media management.
• Simulate a disaster and then recover an IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server and client data using IBM Tivoli Disaster Recovery Manager files stored on removable media.
• Configure IBM Tivoli Storage Manager to use server-to-server communications for electronic vaulting of critical files used during disaster recovery.
• Simulate a disaster and then recover an IBM Tivoli Storage Manager server and client data using the IBM Tivoli Disaster Recovery Manager files stored electronically on another server.
