BackHome!/ADSM requestors

The following similar definitions were used for all the ADSM requestors in the BCOM configuration file:

All the requestors were given a different priority as recommended in TN98-110 and CPU affinity was carefully controlled.

All the requestors were active all the time and the requests were queued all at the same time through a single QUEUE command.

The following series of tests were was run done on various hardware topologies:

• Backup using 1 to 4 requestors all on one CPU, with compression off;
• Backup using 1 to 4 requestors all on one CPU, with compression on;
• Backup using 2 to 8 requestors split on 2 CPUs, with compression off;
• Backup using 2 to 8 requestors split on 2 CPUs, with compression on.

The above tests series were was run on the following hardware:

• A K-10000 with Ethernet (10BaseT);
• An S-70000 with Ethernet (10BaseT);
• An S-70000 with Fast Ethernet (100BaseT);
• An S-70000 with ATM.
